Miss Gallagher’s P5 class have been busy this week!

Thursday: Experiment Day 🌼

Our topic is called ‘Prove it!’ this term so we decided to prove that water travels up the stem of a plant to the petals by using food colouring.

Friday: Instructional Writing ✍🏼 

We have been looking at Instructional Writing this week. We split the class in two with only one half getting detailed instructions. We made fruit skewers and learnt a lot of about the features of instructional writing and the importance of detail! 

Well done! ⭐️

🌟 NATURE TRAIL UPDATE 🌟 

Over 9,000 kilos of bark were spread to cover our new path and outdoor classroom. Good job Tony & Conor! More plants have been delivered for our new pollinator friendly garden 🪴! Things are looking good and we are very excited watching it all coming together.

Primary 2 had a great time making dens during their outdoor lesson today! ⛺️

Here are some photos from yesterday’s progress on the path, planting and outdoor classroom. A huge thank you to Mrs McCormack and our fabulous children, who have been lending a helping hand and checking out the new nature trail. They have put a lot of thought into choosing plants that the bees will love. Also, a huge thanks to Tony Mullan of Urban Earth, our landscape gardener, busy building our new outdoor classroom. We cannot wait to see the finished product! 🐝🪵🍂

Our entire school gathered together in St Joseph’s chapel this morning to celebrate the feast day of St Therese (1st October) and our beginning of year school mass. Thank you to Father McCaughey for welcoming us all into the chapel and very well done to everyone who took part. Thank you also parents and friends for joining in on our celebration. 😁🙏🏼💛

🌟 We are so proud to be winners of the KPMG ‘Free to be me’ competition!! 

We have won lots of fantastic books for our library, as well as a series of workshops for our P3 classes.

Today we said goodbye to Mrs McGarvey as she retires after 28 years service to our school. We will miss her caring nature and dedication to the school community. Best wishes for a long, happy and healthy retirement. 💐👏
